I Want To Play. What Do I Need To Do
If you’re keen to get involved, simply come down to training and say hello! Whether you’re interested in tackle or flag football, our coaches and players will help you get started.
When does the season start?
The Gridiron NSW tackle season typically runs from August to December, while flag football runs across multiple competitions and tournaments throughout the year, including local leagues and representative opportunities.
How do I get the equipment?
For tackle football, the club has helmets, shoulder pads, and pants available to loan for the season. For flag football, all you need are boots and training gear — we’ll provide the flags and equipment.
How old do you have to be?
Juniors (Flag): 12–15
Colts (Tackle): 16–19
Women’s (Flag): 16+
Men’s: (Tackle) 19+
Flag Football: Open to a wide range of ages depending on the competition
I don’t have any experience, can I still play?
Absolutely. No experience needed! Whether it’s tackle or flag, we welcome players of all backgrounds, skill levels, shapes, and sizes.
When and where are games played?
Home games are typically played on Saturdays at Forestville Park, Forestville, with a full day of football and a great community atmosphere.
When Does The Season Start
Pre-season for the GNSW tackle competition kicks off in June, setting the foundation for the season ahead with training, preparation, and team selection before games begin later in the year. Alongside this, flag football offers year-round opportunities, with a growing number of tournaments and competitions held across Australia and internationally, giving players the chance to compete, travel, and stay involved in the game all year long.
